Rob specialises in jazz and particularly enjoys working with improvisation and harmony. He also teaches grade syllabuses including ABRSM, Trinity and London College, taking students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 and beyond.
Rob ran Hull Yamaha Music School between 1997 and 2007, creating a musical community, with festivals, concerts, exams and workshops. The school eventually employed several teachers, teaching Yamaha keyboard and guitar courses to students aged 6 to 96!
Towards the end of his Yamaha career, Rob had arrangements and exercises published in the Yamaha 'Play For Keeps' keyboard course, studied by thousands of students across the UK. Specialising in improvisation Rob helped develop the improvisation content of the course, and ran workshops teaching improvisation techniques to students and other teachers.
Rob gained his PGCE in 2000, and now teaches students on a 1-1 basis. He teaches for Session Player in schools and is the approved tutor at Hull University
