How Long Does The Band Play For?

3 x 45 minute sets over a 4-hour period. These are our standard times, if you require anything different then please ask.

Will It Be Loud?

Our aim is to provide sophisticated background music on piano and double bass as a musical backdrop to your event, at a volume you can easily talk over, but can tune into if there is a lull in conversation. We rarely use amplification, but carry small amplifiers for especially big rooms.

Will The Music Be Really Jazzy And Difficult To Follow?

No, we play easy listening music from the American Songbook- swing, bossa nova and ballads made famous by the Rat Pack and more recently artists such as Norah Jones, Jamie Cullum, Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart- as well as gentle pop classics. You will recognize and tap your foot to every tune!

Do You Play For Wedding Ceremonies?

Yes, all the time, typically three tunes- one for the bride’s entrance, one for the register signing and one for the couple's exit. We have tunes we can recommend for this, but if you’d like to choose your own we will learn a couple that are not in our repertoire- provided they suit the piano/bass instrumentation. Otherwise we can play one or more of your ceremony tunes from an IPod.

How long does it take you to set up?

20 minutes max.

Our event will take place in different rooms. Can you accommodate this?

Yes, we can easily move quickly from one room to another, or outside if it’s fine!

Can We Make Requests For The Band's Sets?

Yes of course! Please peruse our set-list and pick out your favourites!

What If The Venue Doesn’t Have A Piano?

Most venues don’t. We carry our own electronic stage piano- it’s top of the range and sounds very realistic.

What happens between your sets when you’re not playing?

We provide background music from an Ipod during intervals, so your event is never without music.

We were thinking of maybe a trio or quartet for our event?

Many years of experience have proved that piano/bass is the perfect combination for most events. Soloists (piano/harp) can struggle a little to make music that is catchy. Singers are not suitable for background music (as they demand attention) and drums are usually too loud. We can book additional musicians at extra cost if you wish, however. A quiet saxophone or muted trumpet is most advisable, and we know good players who can join us if you want a bigger band.

What Will The Band Wear?

We generally wear ‘smart black and white’. Please feel free to choose a different look from our gallery- black tie, suits or smart-casual.

What Will We Need To Provide For The Band On The Day?

One functional electric socket + one chair

Food: a light snack and drink for two people.

Parking: free parking for two cars please.

Can We See The Band Somewhere Before Booking?

Unfortunately all of our gigs are private functions so this is difficult to arrange. With this in mind we have made our website as helpful as possible, with a selection of images, audio recordings, repertoire lists and client feed back .

How Much Space Does The Band Need?

We need 1.5 x 0.8 m space to perform.
